Churches fight childhood hunger
By Paul Farley

On December 6, two dozen parishioners from St. Andrew Orthodox Church, as well as members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, joined others from around the area at Faith Bible Chapel in Driftwood to pack nutritious, non-perishable meals to feed children throughout the world. The Driftwood event was sponsored by Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a Christian non-profit that since 1987 has been dedicated to seeing every child made whole in body and spirit.
In less than two hours, the volunteers prepared and packed over 23,000 meals – enough to feed over 60 children for a year. The meal packets consisted of dehydrated soy, vegetables, vitamins and minerals which were sealed and boxed, to be shipped to partners for distribution to children who need it. The ingredients were all purchased by private donors large and small. As a non-profit Christian charity, FMSC receives no government support.
