Cinco de Mayo celebration starts Friday
The Caldwell County Courthouse Square will buzz with celebration this weekend, as the Greater Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Cinco de Mayo festival on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3.
Festivities begin on Friday at 6 p.m., as food vendors, arts and crafts booths, and a carnival open for the entertainment of the public during this free-admission bl
ock party. Ortiz sounds will provide DJ music from 6 – 7 p.m., with Cinco Doce following from 7 – 8 p.m., and live music and dancing with Erick y Groupo Massore follows until midnight.
On Saturday morning, revelers will spring from their beds for the Cinco de Mayo 5K Fun Run through historic downtown Lockhart, beginning at 8 a.m. Afterward, booths will reopen at noon, with live and DJ performances continuing through the afternoon, including ballet folklorico from Ruiz and Co. Dance Studio from 6 – 7 p.m., and a dance with Los Aguilares – JG Sounds from 8 p.m. – midnight.
