A Luling woman was taken under arrest last week after a routine traffic stop and search turned up nearly $50,000 worth of drugs in her vehicle.
Caldwell County Sheriff Daniel Law announced on Friday that the 23-year-old Luling woman was pulled over for a traffic violation on Highway 80 near Stairtown on Tue
sday evening, and promptly arrested when officers found a nearly one-pound brick of cocaine wrapped in tin foil in her white Saturn Ion.
The suspect, who was later released on $40,000 bond, denied any knowledge of the drugs being in her vehicle.
She has been charged with Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (1-400 grams), a first degree felony.
“This is the second time in recent years the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has seized over one pound of cocaine,” Law said. This arrest is in addition to several other high yield drug cases being prosecuted in Lockhart and Caldwell County.
The investigation is still on-going and more arrests may follow. To report illegal drug activity in your neighborhood, call the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at (512) 398-6777.
