Mrs. Dorothy May McDowell, 87, of Lockhart died June 15, 2005 in San Marcos. Mrs. McDowell was born June 9, 1918 in San Marcos to Thomas Sidney and Bessie May Jenkins Slaughter. She was united in marriage to Thomas Creigh McDowell June 8, 1941 in Staples, Texas. Mr. McDowell preceded her in death April 17, 2005. Mrs. McDowell attended Southwest Texas State Teacher”s College

in San Marcos. Mrs. McDowell taught school for 40 years, having taught at schools in Staples, San Marcos, Joliet, Kyle, Buda, and Lockhart.
Mrs. McDowell is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bill Bellamy of Ft. Worth and Barbara and Harry Bulkeley of Galesburg, Ill.; grandchildren, Jennifer Bulkeley, Meredith Bulkeley, Rebecca Bulkeley, Brayan Bellamy and Priscilla Bellamy; nieces, Jackie Windwehen, Frances and Gary Houck, and Sherry Leonard.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Christian Church or the Friends of the Dr. Eugene Clark Library. Arrangements with Eeds Funeral Home.
Visitation was held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 17 at Eeds Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. June 18 at the First Christian Church in Lockhart with Rev. Randy Frye officiating. Interment followed in the Lockhart Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Clint Mohle, Austin Pittman, Gary Houck, Tom Perkins, Dan Mayfield and Randy Mueller.
