Dyral Thomas
Candidate for Caldwell County Commissioner, Precinct 4
My name is Dyral Thomas, but most folks in Caldwell County know me as “Coach T.” I’m a
lifelong Lockhart resident and Lockhart High School graduate. I earned a football scholarship to
the University of Houston, helped win the 1976 Cotton Bowl, and played in the NFL. I served 12
years with the Houston Fire Department as an EMT, and I’ve coached and mentored young
people here since 1998.
In my first term, we got real results. Precinct 4 roads are 94% paved, up from below 75%. I
supported lowering the county tax rate to its lowest level in more than a decade, helped secure
millions in grants, opened a new Justice of the Peace office and an ESD substation in Lytton
Springs, and worked with the Homeless Coalition to establish Precinct 4’s first homeless shelter.
I’m seeking re-election because Caldwell County is one of the fastest-growing counties in
Texas, and that growth must be responsible, affordable, and safe for families who already live
here.
I represent everyone in Precinct 4. That’s why I’ve held town halls throughout my term to hear
from residents, and I’ll keep doing it. I’ve also stood up for fairness by opposing mass
surveillance cameras and standing up for voting rights.
Nothing gets done alone on the Commissioners Court. I work with my colleagues as teammates,
as I did to pass bipartisan regulations on unlawful gunfire, the strongest of any Texas county.
Together, we’ll keep making life better for the people of Caldwell County.
