Education Foundation kicks off fundraising efforts

The Education Foundation For Lockhart Independent School District is pleased to announce the kickoff, and first donation, of its inaugural Fundraising Campaign. Funds raised in this drive will go to the mission of providing direct financial support for innovative classroom projects in Lockhart ISD. ate investment and development group in Austin, will play a supporting role to fund teacher grants for improving academic achievement.

The Education Foundation for Lockhart ISD was organized earlier this year, with the help of a group of area businesses who joined together to determine the best way to promote and assist the growing Lockhart school district. In the form of teacher grants, the Foundation’s funding will directly improve teacher resources and learning in Lockhart-area classrooms.

“We are excited to kick off our fundraising campaign, and grateful to receive this first donation from Walton,” Foundation president Alan Fielder said. “Donations from area supporters are critical to the success of our Foundation. These funds will be the start to working towards enhancing the classroom experience for children in our schools.”

Funds from the Education Foundation will support innovative classroom projects not currently supported in the school district’s operations budget. These will primarily be funded by donations from local area businesses and individuals. With its own board, the Foundation is entirely independent from the Lockhart ISD, and will make all decisions on fundraising and grants awarded.

“Walton is proud to have supported the Lockhart Education Foundation from the very beginning, and we will continue to help the foundation as they work to expand educational opportunities for local children,” said Becky Collins, General Manager for Walton Development and Management.

Teachers will be able to apply directly to the Foundation for grants, which will be awarded annually beginning in 2015.
