Eva Mae Wills
Eva Mae Smith Wills was born on Oct. 22, 1912 in Columbus, Texas, to the late Richard Smith and Katie Smith. She entered’ into her heavenly home on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at 1:33 p.m., at home, with her family at her bedside.
Eva accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Methodist church. She completed her schooling in Lockhart, Texas. She met and marr
ied the late Geoffrey W. Wills, Sr. that spanned over 53 years. To this union six children were born: Alice, Alma Faye, Hattie Jewel, Evelyn, Geoffrey, Jr. , and Richard Sr.
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church was a special love for Eva until her death. Eva was a very active and regular member, serving as a communion stewardess for many years. She dearly loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church friends, and neighbors. She was a very loving and kind spirit.
They were a constant source of joy for Eva: high school, college graduations, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, vacations and birthdays. Both of her parents, sisters, brothers, husband, Geoffrey Wills. Jr, and her two oldest grandchildren, Thelma Foote, John Morgan III preceded Eva in meeting Jesus face to face.
She. leaves to cherish her life and mourn her passing, her daughters: Alice Outley (Freddie), Hattie Jewel Posey and Evelyn (Arthur); one son, Richard Sr. (Ann); grandchildren: Denise, Carlotta (Jesse), Anthony (Rhonda), DeLana (Rodney), Richard, Jr .(Gayle), Maury, Christopher and Renee; great-grandchildren: John Morgan, IV, Lindsey, Jermaine, Clarissa, Alexandria, Brandon, Austin, Maura, Skyla, Dylan and Joshua; nephews: Wilford Wills (Ada), Jeremy, Joel Kenneth North (Brenda); nieces: Cheryl Ann, Angela, LouEllen, Jodie, Norma Powell Sublet, Patrice Grovey, Betty Glover, Mella McDuffie and Naomi Henderson. She also leaves a host of cousins, friends, and those who came into her life over the many years.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas. Services were Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Hooks Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas.
