A former Lockhart resident and employee of Child Protective Services in Austin was arrested this week in Anchorage, Alaska, on allegations that he sexually molested a 12-year-old girl.
Mark LeVrier, 52, originally from Quitman, Ark., turned himself in to authorities, according to a Wednesday morning release from the Anch
orage Police Department, after a family that he had helped move from Arkansas to Alaska in September reported LeVrier had molested their 12-year-old daughter. After the child reported the molestation to her parents, they allegedly confronted LeVrier, who left Alaska and returned to Arkansas that day.
The Anchorage Police Department investigation led to a warrant being issued for LeVrier’s arrest. Upon learning of the warrant, LeVrier returned to Alaska and surrendered to authorities.
LeVrier was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor – first degree, and Sexual Abuse of a Minor – second degree. His bail was set at $50,000, and he was required to have a court-approved third party custodian as a condition of release. It was unclear at press time whether LeVrier had been released.
Authorities in Anchorage fear that LeVrier may have more victims – some in Central Texas. Anyone with information or a complaint about LeVrier is encouraged to contact local authorities right away, or to make contact with the Anchorage Police Department at (907) 786-8724.
