Foster elected chairman of Texas Real Estate Research Center advisory board

Lockhart resident Doug Foster, director at SouthStar Bank (SSB), was recently elected Chairman of the Advisory Board of The Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University (TRERC), effective Jan. 1. Foster was originally appointed in 2021 to a six-year term by Governor Greg Abbott. He filled the position of the real estate finance member on the TRERC Board.

TRERC is the nation’s largest publicly funded organization devoted to real estate research. Funded by Texas real estate license fees, TRERC was created by the state legislature in 1971 to meet the needs of the real estate industry, instructors, researchers, legislators, and the public.

Foster retired as Commissioner for the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending as well as Executive Director of the Finance Commission of Texas following a 29-year career with the agency.
