Gilbert C. Lopez, Jr.

Gilbert C. Lopez, Jr., 48, of Lockhart, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Oct. 13, 2008. He was born on May 29, 1960, in Moorehead, Minn., to Gilbert and Mary (Capello) Lopez.

He was a graduate of Lockhart High School, class of 1979. He was united in matrimony with his wife Sylvia (Cuellar) Lopez on Sept. 22, 1984. He was a member of St. Mary

’s Catholic Church, in Lockhart.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Sylvia; daughter, Kristi Rodriguez, and husband, Paul; grandson, Christopher Ray Rodriguez; brothers, Francisco Lopez, Diego Lopez and wife, Mary Ann, and Mateo Pastrano, all of Lockhart; sisters, Rose Mary Banda and husband, Jesse, of Cedar Creek, Laurie Pena and husband, Fildencio, of Houston, and Gena Juarez, and husband Steve, of Lockhart.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary was at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at McCurdy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Robert Becker officiating. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Joe Cruz Banda, Adam Lopez, Stevie Martinez, Luis Cuellar, Mark Lopez and Pete Castillo.
