Gladys “Jerry” Joseph
Mrs. Gladys Jerrine “Jerry” Joseph, 82, passed away peacefully in Luling, Texas, on Jan.19, 2012, with her loving family at her side. She was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Austin, Texas to James David and Vinnie Rachel Beasley Kinsey.
Jerry worked for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission serving as a counselor and retired on Jan. 1, 1989.
Jerry was of the Catholic faith an attend
ed St. Mary”s Catholic Church in Lockhart, Texas. Jerry was recognized by the Governor”s Office as “A Yellow Rose of Texas” for her contributions to the disabled community. She was nominated by Governor Ann Richards as “Woman of the Year.” Jerry has suffered Alzheimer”s disease for several years before her death.
Survivors include her husband, Ferris Michael Joseph, Sr., of Lockhart; son, Ferris M. Joseph ,Jr., of Lockhart, Texas, daughters; Nancy Chandler and husband, Billy , Sr., of Lockhart, and Peggy Coggins and husband, Frank, of Lockhart; sisters, Rachel Estelle Hall of Atlanta, Ga., and Christine Joseph, of Lockhart, Texas; grandchildren: Michael Joiner, Jr., and wife, Jo Ann, of Lockhart, Doyle L. Crawford and wife, Lorraine, of Austin, and Billy G. Chandler, Jr., of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Lockhart City Cemetery with Deacon Daryl Haywood officiating. Serving as the honorary pallbearers were: Michael Joiner, Jr., Doyle L. Crawford, Billy G. Chandler, Jr., Frank Coggins, Billy G. Chandler, Sr., Gary Kinsey, David Kinsey, Dalton Joseph and Jimmy Coggins.

I worked with Jerry’s daughter Nancy for years, and all she ever
talked about was her Mother and Father. My heartfelt sympathy
for the family, and all my Love also.
