Golden Age Home launches new support groups for Dementia Caregivers and Families

Responding to the growing needs of caregivers and families affected by dementia, Golden Age Home Assisted Living, in partnership with Parkview Nursing and Rehab, has unveiled two new support groups in Lockhart, Texas. These initiatives aim to deliver essential resources and foster community support, enriching the existing network of care.
Golden Minds Network: Dementia Caregiver Support Group meets every third Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. at the Dr. Eugene Clark Library. This group is dedicated to the intricacies of dementia care, offering caregivers insights into communication strategies, behavior management, and disease progression in a supportive setting. Shelby Dickman, Social Worker at Parkview Nursing and Rehab, emphasizes, “Understanding dementia’s nuances is crucial, and sharing experiences with peers can be incredibly comforting.”
Golden Care Companions: Caregiver Support Group convenes on the first Wednesday of each month from 12 to 1 PM at the same location. This group focuses on those caring for aging loved ones, providing emotional support and practical advice. Christopher McNeil, Director of Community Relations at Golden Age Home, explains, “This group is a haven where caregivers can discover daily strategies and receive emotional backing.”
These new groups complement our existing Alzheimer’s Support Group, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, which meets on the last Thursday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at Golden Age Home.
Open to family members, friends, and professional caregivers, these groups offer a vital opportunity for sharing experiences, learning new strategies, and building emotional resilience. Participants will find a supportive community that understands the unique challenges of caregiving.
