Grayce Valerian Thorson Spencer (1922-2024)

Grayce Valerian Spencer, 101, of McMahan, TX (formerly of Medford, MA), left to spend eternity with her savior, Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2024.

Grayce was born in Boston, MA, on February 2, 1922, to Theodore Thorson and Lulu Soules Thorson, and grew up in Medford, MA, where she lived until she moved to Texas in 2007. Grayce graduated from Medford High School in 1940 and worked for her father and uncle’s roofing company, “Thor Roofing,” which is still in business.

She later worked for a grocery chain, and her final position was as a receptionist for a legal firm in Boston from which she retired at the age of 81.

Grace loved her family and her many friends. She was kind, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her favorite place to shop was Filene’s Basement in Boston, which kept her fashionably attired on a very slim budget. Grayce was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Owen Iverson, her daughter-in-law, Janie Spencer, and her grandson, Jimmy Spencer. Grayce is survived by her sons, Ray Spencer (Carla) and Russ Spencer, grandchildren Yvonne Pecena (Willie), Danielle Spencer, Erik Spencer (Carrie), and her great grandchildren, Grace Spencer and Harrison Spencer. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, January 26, 2024, at 10AM at Jeffrey Cemetery, McMahan, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
