Ima Gene Shirley

Ima Gene Shirley, 85, of Lockhart, passed away peacefully in Luling on Jan. 4, 2014. She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Pettytown, Texas to Marion Betran and Vesta Lee Baize Shirley, II. Ima worked all her life as a medical technologist in various government hospitals. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Ima was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ila Hill; a

nd brother, M.B. Shirley. Ima is survived by nephews: Russell Hill, Johnny Hill and Buster Shirley; and nieces: Jimilu Reed and JoAnn Walenta.

A visitation was scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel. Services followed at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Bud Cheatham officiating. Burial followed to the Bateman Cemetery in Bastrop County.
