James Murrell Neely
James Murrell Neely, 95, of Lockhart, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. He was born on Aug. 22, 1910, in Amarillo to Roscoe and Gertrude (Murrell) Neely.
James attended and played football at Oklahoma University. He was married to Ruby Abshire on April 29, 1962, in New Mexico. He had worked as a Real Estate salesman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Gertrude Neely, two brothers, R.C. Neely and Ralf Neely, and one sister, Marjorie Neely.
James is survived by his wife, Ruby Neely of Lockhart; his sons, Jim Neely and wife Betsy of Dripping Springs and Mike Neely and wife Donna of Windsor, Calif., his daughters, Donna Michael of Dripping Springs and Phyllis Morgan and husband James of Tucumcari, N.M.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, including Daryl Erickson and wife Michelle Erickson, Gina Evans, and loved much by his great-granddaughter Alexis Erickson, all of Lockhart.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at McCurdy Memorial Chapel with Elder Vance Rogers officiating. Interment followed in the Lockhart City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Warm Springs Rehabilitation facility in Luling.
