Johnnie Schulze
Johnnie Arthur Wilhelm Schulze, of New Braunfels, passed away on June 28, 2012, at the age of 89. He was born on Jan. 2, 1923, in Floresville, Texas, to Paul Wilhelm and Elizabeth Carolina (Pieper) Schulze.
Johnnie attended school at Camp Ranch, were he completed the eighth grade to work on the farm with his sister. In 1941, at the age of 18, he was drafted into the Army f
or WWII and then returned home in 1945 after serving in England, Belgium and Germany.
After serving his country, he worked in San Antonio for Prassel Window & Door for a brief time, before he got the job at Kruegers where he worked from 1947 to 1975, as an auto mechanic. He met Rose Lee at Eagles Dance Hall and they married on April, 5, 1947, in Niederwald, Texas. In 1948 they built a house in New Braunfels and lived there all their lives.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee. He is survived by sister, Lillian Marie Schneider, of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Ewalt Schneider; niece, Ruth Schlickeisen; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, with Bill William Ely officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
