L.H.S. powerlifters advance to Regional Meet

The Lockhart High School Lion and Lady Lion powerlifting teams competed in the Del Valle Power Lifting meet on Saturday, Feb. 25.
“Both the boys and girls did a great job and competed with a lot of pride,” said Coach Darrell Brock.
Highlights of the meet included Laura Villarreal hitting the 600-pound level for the 114-pound class and Trey Ware increasing his tot

al by 40 pounds in winning the 242-pound class.
Earning points for the Lady Lions were:
¥Laura Villarreal with a third place finish by lifting 600 pounds in the 114-pound class
¥Diana Chiman with a sixth place finish by lifting 525 pounds in the 114-pound class
¥Erica Torres with a seventh place finish by lifting 445 pounds in the 123-pound class
¥Shayna Tucker with an eighth place finish by lifting 535 pounds in the 148-pound class
¥Anna Beth Gonzales with an eighth place finish by lifting 630 pounds in the 198-pound class.

Earning points for the Lions were:
¥Trey Ware with a first place finish by lifting 1410 pounds in the 242-pound class
¥Matthew Tienda with a third place finish by lifting 765 pounds in the 123-pound class
¥Randy McGeehee with a fourth place finish by lifting 695 pounds in the 123-pound class
¥Derrick Harris with a fifth place finish by lifting 1295 pounds in the 275-pound class
¥Joe Woodworth with a sixth place finish by lifting 1330 pounds in the 275-pound class
¥Jr. Reyes with a ninth place finish by lifting 1130 pounds in the 181-pound class
¥Kory Robbins with a fourteenth place finish by lifting 975 pounds in the 165-pound class
¥Nick Villarreal with a fifteenth place finish by lifting 950 pounds in the 181-pound class
¥Royce Lee with a sixteenth place finish by lifting 910 pounds in the 181-pound class
¥John Squires with a nineteenth place finish by lifting 875 pounds in the 165-pound class

“This was the last regular season powerlifting meet. Coach McAdams and I are so proud of all the lifters and how they competed,” Coach Brock added.
The Region 2 Division I Boys Regional Meet and the Girls Region 2 Powerlifting Meet will be held in Lampasas on Friday, Mar. 3, and Saturday Mar. 4, with the boys on Friday and the girls on Saturday.
Region 2 is a large region going as far north as Grandbury, south to San Marcos, east to Waller, and west to Dripping Springs. Only the top 10 boys in the region qualify and the top 12 girls qualify in each weight class.
“It is a true honor to compete in this region,” Coach Brock said. “Congratulations to these athletes!”
The following boys and girls will compete in the meet for Lockhart.
