Lady Lion Soccer keeps playoff hopes alive
Lockhart Lady Lions finished the week with a 1-1 record in competition against teams from Lehman and Cedar Creek.
In a tough battle with Lehman, the Lady Lions came up short with a 1-0 loss.
On Friday, Feb. 15, the Lady Lions hosted Bastrop Cedar Creek in a must-win situation with playoff implications.
Bearing bitter old and a strong north wind that made advancing the
ball difficult, the Lady Lions struggled in the first half, going into halftime down 1-0.
The Lady Lions started the second half with the wind at their backs and scored quickly in first two minutes of the half.
Morgan Seeliger scored on a corner kick from freshman Laura Munoz; Munoz later went on to score a goal of her own. Freshman Arissa Perez then scored a goal with an assist from Seeliger to put the final score 3-1 Lockhart.
The win kept the Lady Lions’ playoff hopes alive. The team continued with the second round of District play this week, facing both Hays and La Grange on the road.
