The Lockhart Lions girls basketball team put forth a determined effort Friday night but came up short in a 37–50 loss to the Navarro Panthers.

The Lions stayed competitive early, trailing just 15–13 at the end of the first quarter after strong defensive play and balanced scoring. Lockhart continued to fight in the second quarter, keeping the game within reach at halftime with a 22–19 deficit.

Navarro gained momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Lions to extend the lead to 38–25 heading into the final period. Despite the challenge, Lockhart continued to battle until the final buzzer, showing resilience and hustle throughout the fourth quarter.

Peyton Johnson led all scorers for the Lions with an impressive 24 points, providing consistent offense and leadership on the court. Beah St. Leger added 3 points, while Alexis Rodriguez contributed 4 points. Marissa Sosa, Madison Knoblauch, and Zoe Goerlitz each chipped in 2 points to round out the scoring for Lockhart.

Though the final result did not go their way, the Lions’ effort and determination were evident as they continue to build and prepare for upcoming games.
