Lady Lions fall 51-38 to Lehman Lady Lobos

The Varsity Lady Lions battled the Lady Lobos at the Lion’s Den on Friday, Jan. 11. Scoring ended in Lehman’s favor at 51-38.
The Lady Lions started out playing brilliantly during the first three quarters of the game. Unfortunately, their brightness dimmed as the game dragged on and the Lady Lobos chipped away relentlessly

at the Lady Lions’ lead in the fourth quarter.
Lockhart scored 17 points in the first quarter while Lehman scored just five. The second quarter was almost even in scoring with the Lions scoring 13 points and the Lobos 15. The third quarter was a low scoring quarter for both teams with Lehman scoring only eight points while Lockhart scored four ending the third quarter at 34-28 with Lockhart still in the lead.
The fourth quarter was a turning point for the Lady Lions. Nothing they tried worked. It was as if they were handcuffed while the Lady Lobos dribbled all around them and down the court to the awaiting baskets that seemed to have basketball magnets only for the Lady Lobos.
In the end, the Lady Lobos were more determined to win and fought their way back to claim victory in the final minutes of the game scoring a whopping 23 points while allowing a mere four points from the Lady Lions.
Vanessa Gonzales was the high scorer for the Lady Lions scoring a total of 11 points in the game. Mariah Carter scored 10 points, Alisha Officer nine, Desi Winn four and finally, Shelby Henrichs and Kariah Selby each scored two points.
