Lady Lions run strong at Wimberley

Lockhart”s Lady Lion Cross Country team traveled to Wimberley Saturday and squared off against two important regional opponents, New Braunfels and Boerne. The Lady Lions placed fourth overall with 113 points, as the New Braunfels Unicorns won this meet with a 73 points, while 5A Bastrop was second with 83. Boerne, ranked fifth in the state, placed third with 93 points out of

the 10 teams and a total of 100 runners competing.
The Lady Lions” effort was its finest of the young season, according to Coach Lee Datesman.
Junior Livi Massey placed 6th (12:34) and is continuing to get stronger by the week. She was followed by a quartet of solid performances from sophomore Aly Gonzales (20th in 13:05), junior Aly Daily (29th in 13:12), and freshmen Jordyn Platt (33rd in 13:18) and Alex Maderal (36th in 13:21).
Daily, in spite of battling illness much of the week, showed much of her old form and was a key contributor to Saturday”s success. Following Maderal was freshman Bianca Juarez in 54th and sophomore Shelby Ohlendorf (66th).
The Junior Varsity race saw three excellent Lady Lion performers on Saturday. Freshman Kelcie Daily outlasted sophomore Mary Woody for 5th place, as Woody placed 6th. Just behind Woody was sophomore Jannah Platt, who placed 9th. Following Platt was Tera Alford, Jade Ramirez, and Leandra Garcia.
The Lady Lions will travel to Texas A&M on Saturday for the Texas A&M Invitational, the third meet of the Lady Lions” season.
