Leander drops Lions during final home game
By Anthony Collins
The final game of the season for the Lockhart Lions baseball team marked a special occasion as it was Parents and Senior Night. Families and friends gathered to celebrate the seniors on the team and show appreciation for their season.
Parents cheered on their kids and the seniors as they reflected on their time playing for the Lions.
Lockhart’s batters faced a tough challenge after their disappointing performance against Leander earlier in the week. The team suffered a crushing 10-0 defeat at the hands of the Leander Lions, putting them in a difficult position heading into their final game where they were also shut out by Leander, 7-0.
Leading the way on the pitching mound for Lockhart was senior Nick Ogeda. By the end of the second inning, Leander had established a commanding 4-0 lead. Ogeda displayed resilience as he pitched six innings, giving up five runs while striking out two batters.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Ogeda also showcased his skills at the plate during the bottom of the fifth inning. He stood out as the sole Lion to secure a base hit, delivering a single to right field.
The Lions finished their season with a 10-17-1 record.
