Letters – LHS grad questions rush to judgment

To the Editor:

After reading the letter to the editor regarding the head football coach position in last weeks’ newspaper, I find it very sad that some of our community members are so quick to judge our school district officials when they do not have both sides of the story.

I wonder, sometimes, where they get their inaccurate information and if they’ve ever been on t

he wrong side of a story. Would that person want anyone to judge them by what one or two or even a few people may have said about them, especially if it were not true?

There are many difficult decisions that our school district officials need to make. They will never be able to make everyone happy – every time. I do know that I have never known a group of people (school officials) more concerned and supportive of our staff and students than here at Lockhart ISD. What a fantastic place for children to live and attend school.

It is never easy to make changes, for anyone, but choices are made in the best interest of our children. Isn’t that what we all want?

I feel that in order for the Lockhart community to move forward we have to see the best in everyone and have hope for a brighter future.

Just because you may know someone who feels that they, or someone they know, are being mistreated does not give the entire picture. There are always two sides to every story. I hope that this community will take the time to get to know our school district officials. A school board meeting is a great place to meet them in a public format.

Instead of tearing down what this community is positively trying to build up, to move forward, be a part of the solution instead of the problem. Slander and inaccurate information can only tear down a community that I know wants to become better.

All I’m saying is that before you believe a person who says anything negative about someone else (anyone), show some respect for the person (school official) being slandered by realizing that there are always two sides to a story.

Kindest Regards,

Darla Damron, LHS Graduate

Fantastic place for children to live and attend school? Are you serious? People in this town are some of the meanest, ignorant, and most hate filled people that you will ever come across. For anyone considering moving to Lockhart, I would advise you to Run, Run as fast as you can, away from this dysfunctional community.

It sounds like you’ve had some really bad experiences and I am sorry if you have. I do hope that you can find peace somewhere, if not in Lockhart, TX. All I can say is that you try to find the good in all things and in all people and not dwell on the bad. Dwelling on the bad just brings misery to yourself and to those around you. I do pray for your happiness. You will find it if you look for it. Best wishes!

Maybe you should have spoken with the Lockhart City Manager, and the Lockhart Mayor that this town attempted to run out of town. Where you not around during all the public newspaper bashing and voter recall regarding these two people? They may not share your “oh So Sweet” views of Lockhart. They had to experience first hand how troubling people in this town can be.
