Letters – Reader questions church’s “Members Only” decision
To the Editor:
There were representatives of the police department showing off the new cars that belong to all of us. There were representatives of emergency services, the victim assistance program, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, elite and social clubs, local businesses, and the armed forces (for whom the crowd stood in respect.)
There were public servants, including o
ur US Representative Lloyd Doggett and our State Representative Patrick Rose.
There were children catching the candy thrown from so many of the entrants.
There were homeowners the length of San Antonio Street, welcoming old friends and total strangers to share their yards to watch the parade.
And there was the church that barricaded its parking lot, to be used by “members only.”
What would Jesus do?
