Linda Osborn
Linda Malaer Osborn of Austin passed away Aug. 30, 2007 after a lengthy and valiant battle against lung cancer. She was born July 3, 1944, in Luling, to Jack and Geraldine Malaer.
Linda attended school in Encino and Luling, Texas. While still in school she met and married David Osborn. After raising her children she returned to school at St. Philip’s College and earn
ed a degree in nursing. She found her passion and calling in serving others in her profession. She worked tirelessly as a nurse until the time her disease prevented her from helping others.
Linda marched to the beat of her own drummer and was admired for her courage to do so. She was creative and found the beauty of nature in every plant and rock. Her natural gardens were her labor of love and an oasis of beauty and serenity. Her cooking and baking talent was matched only by her mother’s.
Linda is survived by her son Chris Osborn; daughter Robin Osborn and partner Leslie Folsom; former husband and still special friend David Osborn and wife Johnilee; brother Doug Malaer and wife Rita; first cousin and best friend Dee Perez; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Don and Gary Malaer. Special thanks to Dr. Shimkus and the wonderful Nurse Marta at Lonestar Oncology. Thanks also to the Christopher House for all of the kindness and compassion.

A casual memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life was held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. at her home in Austin.
