In their first playoff bid in three years, the Varsity Lions fell just short against Bay City.
“In a season marked with weekly line-up changes to the offense, the lions were once again going to have to rely on their defense being led by senior and captain Johnny Juarez and junior standout Jose Gonzalez,” Co
ach Joshua Johnson said.
The team did not disappoint, Johnson said, with defense that held Bay City scoreless in the first half.
Two minutes into the second half, things changed as Bay City netted the only goal of the night. Despite several solid attempts, the Lions could not find the back of the net, Johnson noted.
“It is a great day for Lockhart Soccer, to be back in the playoffs, to have as good a showing as we did,” he said. “I’ve told the guys sometime you can play your best game and not win. They left everything on the field and can hold their heads up high.”
