Right, Sophomore Noah Jaimes, took some playing time at Friday’s game against Weiss.
The Lockhart Lions walked into Friday night’s matchup against the Weiss Wolves with grit in their hearts and fire in their eyes. While the scoreboard didn’t tell the story they hoped for, their determination never wavered. Weiss took control early and ultimately claimed a 54–3 victory, but the Lions never stopped clawing for every yard and every tackle.
Even with the first half ending at 47–0, Lockhart’s players kept their heads up, showing the kind of fight and teamwork that define true competitors. From the first snap to the final whistle, the Lions stayed focused on effort, execution, and pride in the program they’re building.
“The guys are staying positive, and we are focusing on the details, play by play, quarter by quarter, and half by half,” said Head Coach Mike Maldonado. “We are getting back to our team culture.”
That mindset has been the cornerstone of Maldonado’s leadership as the Lions push through a challenging stretch in the 2025 season. Now sitting at 1–6, the team’s record doesn’t reflect the energy or heart that has defined their play. Every week, the Lions are battling not just their opponents but the adversity that tests a program’s foundation and they continue to respond with unity and determination.
“This team doesn’t quit,” Maldonado emphasized, and Friday night proved it. The Lions battled through every snap, pushing through every challenge with heart and soul. Players rallied around each other on the sidelines, lifted spirits after each play, and refused to let frustration take hold.
The Lockhart community has taken notice. Fans in the stands echoed the team’s spirit, cheering through the hard moments and celebrating every big hit and first down. It’s that bond between players, coaches, and supporters that keeps the Lions roaring even when the odds seem long.
Next up, Lockhart returns home to face the College Station Cougars at 7:00 p.m. this week. Expect a fired-up team ready to put on a show for the Lockhart crowd under the Friday night lights. Win or lose, one thing’s certain: these Lions know how to fight to the very last second.
