LJHS 7th graders take District Golf title

The Lockhart Junior High golfers played at Colovista Golf Club recently in in Bastrop at the District Championships.
“Our team has been looking forward to the event since last summer: LJHS Head Coach Franklin Hudson said. “They have really been putting in the work and it showed.”
Lockhart had nine junior high golfers competing. The 8th grade was represented by Marisol Capetillo and Sam Massaro. Capetillo finished in a tie for 4th place, just 3 shots from a medal. Massaro played his way to a tie for 21st.
The LJHS 7th grade boys’ team of Nicholas Munoz, Koen Cox, Jack Westmoreland, Devin Davis and Tommy Shelton, won the District Championship Trophy, posting a 225 total to win by 14 shots.
Individually, Munoz finished 2nd with a score of 41, Cox tied for 14th with a 63, Westmoreland tied for 12th at 61, Davis was tied in 10th place with a 60, and Shelton was tied for 16th with a 64.
Rafael Urbina and Sebastian Laconia were LJHS medalists. Urbina posted a score of 56, to finish in 4th place, and Lozano shot 64 to finish tied for 16th.
