The season was nothing short of extraordinary for the Lockhart Little League Senior Girls Softball team.

In an inspiring postseason campaign, the girls won the Texas East State Championship, earning a spot in the Southwest Regional Tournament held in Pineville, Louisiana. Though they were ultimately defeated at regionals, their journey captivated the Lockhart community and made history for the league.

Lockhart attended the State Tournament in Rosenburg, TX, where they were crowned Texas East State Champions after dominating Galena Park LL and East End LL in three games, outscoring opponents 53–18.

Their run culminated in a memorable final game against the Texas West champions from Brownsville. Despite falling short in that clutch match-up, the team’s tenacity left a lasting impression.      “This has been a whirlwind ride, and we are beyond proud,” said Head Coach Tom Dunn. “To our amazing players, our coaches, and all the parents who stood with us every step of the way, thank you.”

The team’s achievement was the result of years of hard work and dedication, dating back to their first All Stars appearance in 2017, when many players were just eight years old. Now, at 16, they’ve competed at one of the highest levels for youth softball and helped put Lockhart on the map.

With six of these athletes eligible to return next season, the sentiment is strong: We will be back.

Lockhart Little League also expressed deep gratitude to the many supporters whose contributions helped the team travel to Louisiana. Their collective backing made the trip possible and set the stage for this impressive run.

Looking ahead, the organization is focused on building a stronger foundation, aiming to have multiple teams make similarly deep postseason runs in the years to come. Leaders also gave a nod to the Lockhart Little League board, volunteers, parents, and coaches who have supported the team throughout the years.

“This isn’t the end,” added Coach Dunn. “It’s just the beginning.”
