Lockhart takes 3rd in tennis tourney

The Lockhart Tennis Team traveled to San Antonio on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this past week to take part in San Antonio Burbank’s Dogfight in the River City tennis tournament.
With both the JV and Varsity tennis results being tabulated together to come up with a final winning team, Lockhart High School finished in 3rd place out of 20 teams participating in the tournament.
The coaches said was a great result for Lockhart who is participating this year with all new look teams in both the Varsity and JV divisions. Match winners included Reagan Smith, Tannah Walker, Marshall Grimm, Michael Gonzales, Kirssa Hunt, Bethany Visage, Matthew Cashe, Katherine “Scout” Mercado, Gabrielle Salazar, Landen Brown, Alain Garza, Juan “JC” Lopez, Garrett Mireles, and Pietro Laudenzi. Marshall Grimm, Michael Gonzales, Kirssa Hunt, Bethany Visage, Tannah Walker, Garrett Mireles, and Pietro Laudenzi also made it into the semifinal round before losing in close matches in their respective divisions. Highlight players of the week where Matthew Cashe and Katherine “Scout” Mercado who finished in 2nd place overall in Mixed Doubles for the tournament, and Juan “JC” Lopez who finished in 2nd place overall in JV Boys Singles.
The coaches said that overall it was a great week for the Lion tennis team and they look forward to continuing their great results as they travel to San Antonio again this week.
