Marcelino S. Silva, retired family physician, loving husband, and father was born June 5, 1940, in the Philippines and formerly resided in Lockhart, more recently in Cedar Park. He rejoiced with God on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.

Dr. Silva served with the U.S. Air Force (Reserve) and honorably discharged as a Major. He was a member of the City Council (City of Lockhart) from 1

989 – 1992 and was a member of the Lockhart Industrial Foundation. Dr. Silva was involved in the formation of the Lockhart Emergency Medical Services and served as their first Medical Director. He also worked as Medical Director at Gary Job Corp Center and also as a Caldwell County Health Officer.

He always found time to nurture his garden and chase golf balls. He enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, making people laugh, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Emilie and two children, Joebert Silva (Judy), and Joseph Silva; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Avery Silva; brother, Phillip Silva (Lorie) and nieces, Beth S. Molina (Eddie) and children Tony and Ricky, and Rosalinda S. Huck (Joseph); and sister in-law Ligaya Silva and son, Francis.

Marc is also survived by his in-laws: Ramon Mijares (Rebecca); Jocelyn Salido (Johnny); Beverly de Leon (Dr. Francisco de Leon); Bambi Atencio (Anthony); Dr. Jackie Cua (Dr. Leony Cua); Dr Josel Mijares (Dr. Maita Bolisay Mijares); Imee Tansiongco (Robert); and Rex Mijares; nieces and nephews: Francis Mijares (David), Rikki Matsuda (Ronald), Ashley Atencio, Raissa Behm (Eric), JoAnn Salido, Ryan and Audrey Atencio, Leonard, Jergen, and Jaymer Cua; Jed, Josh, and Bianca Mijares; and mother in-law Josefina Mijares.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose R. Silva, and mother, Segunda S. Silva; brother, Francisco S. Silva; nephews, Abel and Francis Silva; and niece, Josie Silva.

The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Dr. Charles Laurence and staff, Dr. Saadeh, Dr. Mansour, and Doctors Soubra, Babbar, and Naik at Seton Williamson Hospital ICU and all other doctors, nurses and staff that gave him excellent care during his stay at the hospital.

Thanks also to Dr. Ronnie Matsuda (Mila); Dr. Edward Tomaneng; and Dr. Tom Mijares (Janet) and the staff at Texas Oncology Midtown for their continual support to the family.

Visitation and Rosary was heldĀ this Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, Texas.

Memorial service and Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.

    Emilie, I will always remember the good times we shared at Gary. The doctor was always so jovial and friendly. Please know that your old friends share your pain.
