Marvin James Nite of San Marcos, Texas, beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the age of 84. He was born in Williamson County, Texas, to Erasmus Walker and Bertha (Pittman) Nite on June 14, 1926.

Since 1982, he has successfully owned and operated Marvin’s Heating and Air-conditioning. He was a mem

ber and past governor of the San Marcos Lions Club District #2S3; and he was a member of the University Church of Christ in San Marcos, where he served as an elder for 47 years. Marvin was also an avid collector of model trains. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends in the San Marcos community.

His parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lemma (Voigt) Nite; son, Michael Nite and wife, Sandra, of College Station; daughter, Judy Harrell and husband, Alan, of San Marcos; brother, Perry Nite, of Austin; three grandchildren, David Harrell and wife, Tina, of San Marcos, Courtney Harrell, of San Francisco, and Stephanie Nite, of Katy; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Harrell and Chloe Harrell; and his faithful “dog” companion, Fox.

Family received friends at Pennington Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011.  Funeral Services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011, at the University Church of Christ in San Marcos, with Wayne Jones and Norman Starling officiating. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the University Church of Christ New Song Book Fund, American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
