Mary Hernandez Juarez

Mary Hernandez Juarez, a cherished soul, was called home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on April 4, 1941, in Lockhart, Texas to Emilio Hernandez, Jr. and Francisca Solis Hernandez, Mary’s life was a tapestry of love, service, and enduring faith. She passed peacefully in San Marcos, Texas.
Mary’s early years in Lockhart were filled with the simple joys of small-town life. A proud graduate of Lockhart High School’s class of 1959, she carried the values of hard work and community throughout her life. For many years, Mary’s skilled hands worked magic with fabric and thread, as she served as a dedicated seamstress at Betty Brooks and Phantom Industries. Her craftsmanship was not just a job but a testament to her meticulous nature and desire to provide for her family.
A devout Catholic, Mary’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She walked through life with a grace that inspired all who knew her, living out the words of scripture, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13). Her love was a beacon that shone brightly, guiding her family with warmth and wisdom.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Jessie Juarez, their daughters Sandra Gomez (Hector Gomez), Linda Juarez (John Espinoza), Deanna Juarez, and daughter-in-law Gina Juarez, her grandchildren Stephanie O’Sullivan (Ian O’Sullivan), Johnny O’Balle (Zoe O’Balle), Kimberly Juarez, Andrew Gomez, Eric Juarez, Gabriel Ortiz, and Theresa Espinoza. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Mia Torres, Eric Juarez Jr., Payton Fuentes, Austin O’Sullivan, Olivia Juarez, Layla O’Balle, Omar O’Balle, and Isabella O’Sullivan. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved son Steven Juarez and great-granddaughter Ava Katalina Ortiz.
Mary’s loving bond with family and friends will continue with each person carrying a piece of her spirit forward.
Her interests were a reflection of her nurturing soul. Mary found joy in tending to her plants and flowers, cultivating beauty and life with every touch. Her laughter was a familiar sound during shopping trips and lunches with her dearest friends, and she never turned down the excitement of an afternoon at Kickapoo Casino.
To know Mary was to know a woman of remarkable character. She was the embodiment of generosity, always extending a helping hand or a word of encouragement, and her courage was quietly profound — facing life’s challenges with unwavering strength and dignity.
As we bid farewell to Mary Hernandez Juarez, we are reminded of the joy she brought into our lives and the legacy of love she leaves behind. “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” (Matthew 25:21). Mary’s journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit lives on, a guiding light leading us ever onward with love, hope, and grace.
