Melvin “Mel” L. Rogas, Sr. of Lockhart, was born on July 14, 1935, in Cottonwood, Texas, and died on June 27, 2016, in Vitas Hospice Inpatient Center at Baylor Scott & White – Carrollton.
Mel was a retired Master Carpenter and a Deacon at McMahan Baptist Church. Mel worked for the Lockhart Independent School District in the Maintenance Department and as Driver for Glos

serman Chevrolet after retirement.
Mel was an avid NASCAR, IRL and Football fan.
Mel is survived by his son, Lee Rogas of Edina, Minn.; daughter, Diane Wilson (Ben) of The Colony, Texas; two grandsons, Edward L. Wilson, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Chad Wilson (Courtney), of Allen, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Tryisten Wilson, of Marysville, Calif., and Cheyenne Wilson and Chase Wilson, of Allen, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in and around Waco, Texas.
Mel was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marylou; his parents, Gus and Edith Rogas; and four sisters: Estelle Hughes, Helen Minchew, Dorthy Rogas and Wanda Fisher.
The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at McMahan Baptist Church, 6084 FM 713, Dale, Texas, 78613.
The Family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to McMahan Baptist Church Building Fund, Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Daughters of the Nile Foundation in memory of Mel.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart.
