Methodist Healthcare Ministries and Area Agency on Aging host “Welcome to Medicare 101” event
Methodist Healthcare Ministries (MHM) and the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) are hosting a Medicare 101 event on Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon, where experts will address the important aspects of Medicare. With rapid changes in healthcare, it is important to stay informed about Medicare enrollment and benefits.
During the event, speakers will cover a range of topics including “original Medicare” Part A and B, Medicare Advantage or Medigap, Part D Prescriptions and Extra Help, Medicare Savings Program, working past age 65, and more. Whether someone is new to Medicare or has been enrolled for years, advisors will be available to answer questions and provide guidance.
In addition to Medicare, the AAA will also discuss programs offered to seniors such as Information & Referral Assistance, Benefits Counseling, Ombudsman Program, Health & Wellness, Care Coordination, Caregiver Support Services, Nutrition Programs, Medication Screening, and Aging & Disability Resource Center.
Post Acute Medical (PAM) Health will also be available to explain the programs and treatments available at their facilities in Luling and Lockhart. PAM offers a Vestibular Therapy Program in Luling for individuals experiencing balance issues and vertigo.
The event will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Luling (703 East Bowie St.) in the Fellowship Hall. This event is free and open to individuals aged 60 and above, as well as their caregivers aged 55 and younger with qualifying disabilities. Lunch will be provided for attendees.
To reserve your seat, contact Rhonda Hunnicutt, RN-BC, MHM Wesley Nurse, at 830-302-3012 by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.
