Minne Rector Kulms

Minnie Rector Kulms passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the age of 94 years. She was born in Buda on Oct. 2, 1919, to Media and John Rector. She married Fred W. Kulms on July 10, 1936.

After their marriage, Minnie joined the Dale Baptist Church where Fred served as a Deacon. During World War II, Minnie worked at the San Marcos Air Force Base. After the war, she worked

for the US Postal Service in Austin before going to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Minnie worked as an operator and Chief Operator in Lockhart, transferring to the Austin office when dial telephones came to Lockhart. She retired in 1977 with 32 years of service, 28 of which were with perfect attendance.

When Fred joined the San Marcos Camp of Gideons International in 1977 as a charter member, Minnie served as the first elected vice-president of the auxiliary. After retirement, Minnie and Fred enjoyed collecting antique furniture and glassware, at one time operating two small shops to take care of the “overflow.”

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, four sisters, and her beloved husband Fred. She has joined him in heaven. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Russell Riddle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel in Lockhart, Texas, with Pastor Mary Rector Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow at the Bunton Cemetery in Dale, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the church of your choice.
