School is out, the summer has begun, and the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce has finalized preparations for Lockhart’s favorite festival, the 41st Annual Chisholm Trail Roundup Rodeo and Music Festival, which will be held in Lockhart City Park this weekend.

The biggest change in this year’s lineup is the return of the rodeo. The Chamber has been working with sponsors and th

e Diamond Cross Rodeo Company to ensure that the western flavor of CTR returns with a fully produced, two-night rodeo on Friday and Saturday. What’s more, the rodeo has been slated on the City Park grounds, so families and friends will have one-stop entertainment throughout the weekend.

CTR events started last week, with the Barbecue Capital of Texas Cookoff and Tolbert-Terlingua Chili Qualifier, as well as horseshoe and washer pitching tournaments.

But the main event starts Thursday, as the park and carnival open the gates at 5 p.m., and the CTR Queen and her Court will be announced at 7 p.m.
