Oran “Bubba” Coker, Jr., was born on May 31, 1925, to Bernice Bluhm and Oran Coker, Sr. He passed away peacefully on June 11, 2012.

Mr. Coker was a lifelong resident of Lockhart and a devoted member and elder in the First Christian Church.

He served in WWII as a Merchant Marine before partnering with associates at Armo Mills for many years. In the mid-60s, he joined T

exas Feed and Fertilizer Control with Texas A&M University as an auditor, inspector and supervisor.

He retired after 28 years of dedicated service. He loved his work and never knew a stranger – he was so kind and confident.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 beautiful years, Maurine, and a favorite nephew, Oran Keith Rosen, of Kansas City.

Visitation was held at McCurdy Funeral Home, with a funeral service at First Christian Church with Rev. Randy Frye officiating, assisted by Elders Alan Fielder and Clint Mohle, with music provided by Dereck Schuelke. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.

Pallbearers included special friends Curtis Hinton, Ben Jones, David Braune, Kirk Chapman and Phillip Hunter. Honorary pallbearers were George Chapman, Joe Rector and the Dairy Queen Medicare Corner Coffee Drinkers.

All services were very special, and well-attended by a multitude of loving friends. Oran (“Bubba”) was a great man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
