Orbin Voigt
Orbin Edward Voigt, of McMahan, Texas, peacefully passed from this world to his Heavenly Home at age 94 on Jan. 5, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Illine McGee Voigt; children, Karon Hudson (husband Wesley) and Weston Voigt (wife Peggy); siblings William Voigt and Helen Franks; five granddaughters and ten great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as
“Papa.”
The fourth of eight children, Orbin was born in 1921 to Sam and Ella Voigt.
He was a proud veteran of World War II, homebuilder, rancher, deacon at McMahan Baptist Church for over 50 years, and an avid outdoorsman, who was happiest while fishing and hunting.
Despite his towering frame and often-too-honest sense of humor, Orbin had the most generous of hearts—a gentle giant, never afraid to tell those he loved that he cherished them. His playful smile and mischievous wink would always give him away.
This hard-working man taught us the importance of taking care of those you love and the value of living for the Lord, whom he spent his life serving.
The day before he passed, he assured his beloved Illine that he’d spent his whole life making sure she would be ok when his time came.
Though he’s no longer with us but waiting for us to join him in his Eternal Home, his legacy lives on in all who loved him; we’ll hold him forever in our hearts and in our memories.
Arrangements under the care and guidance of McCurdy Funeral Home.
Janet & I are thinking about you. Sorry for your loss
