Ray Cornell “Ray Ray” Sedwick, Jr., was born on Oct. 3, 1994, in Austin, Texas, to Cynthia Marie Ellis and Ray Cornell Sedwick, Sr. He slipped his mortal bonds and joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 22, 2016.
Ray’s most special pride was being a big brother, and he was on top of the world waiting to meet his nephew, who is expected to arrive soon.
A 2013 graduate

of Lockhart High School, Ray was adored by coaches, teachers and classmates alike. Voted Homecoming King his Senior year, Ray’s huge personality and warm smile were matched only by his drive to succeed and his capacity to love everyone – his mother, most of all. With almost every word and action couched in humor and laughter, he earned leadership roles both on the sports fields and off.
After graduation, Ray spent a year at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, before embarking on a great adventure to Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., where he discovered the cold did not agree with him. He returned home to Texas, and went to work, planning to continue his future in education.
Ray packed a lifetime of love and fun into his short time on Earth, and will forever be remembered by all who knew him for his smile, his laughter, and his boundless faith in God.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Cynthia Marie Ellis; his father, Ray Cornell Sedwick, Sr.; his beloved brother, Timothy Sedwick, his wife, Lexi, and their soon-to-arrive son, Bryson Ray; his maternal grandparents, Debra Moody Rangel and Wilburn Ellis; his Lockhart Lion brothers and sisters; and a large, extended family of siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends he loved like family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
A Friday Night Lights vigil in Ray’s honor has been planned at Lion Stadium, #1 Lion Country Drive, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lion’s Den Competition Gym at Lockhart High School on Monday, May 30, 2016, beginning at noon. Burial will follow to the Lockhart Municipal Cemetery.
Carrying Ray to his Final Rest, as they carried him in life, are brothers-in-spirit: Nico Perez, Levi Mair, Marcus Rodriguez, Johnny Anzualda, Brandon Miller, Rhett Crawford, Trent Till and Charles Ereaux.
The family extends their thanks and gratitude to everyone who has shared of their time, their prayers and their love during this difficult time.  Those who have called, stopped by, and contributed are too numerous to mention.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Ray Sedwick, Jr., Memorial Fund at First Lockhart National Bank or online at www.youcaring.com/63raysedwick.

We were very fortunate to meet Ray and spend time together as family, whether he was traveling to South Dakota or when he later attended BHSU. So happy he touched our lives so sad that he had such a short life. Hugs to his family and many friends. Brenda Klundt, Lead SD

Thank you God for giving us Ray to love and cherish even if it was for a way too short a time. Ray, you were always one of my favorite band “kids” and always had your manners and respect for others in hand at all times. Your laughter, smiles, hugs and good nature will be missed! Your bear hugs were truly one of a kind! Thank you for not only being my friend but my son’s too. Rest in peace my friend!
    Love, Mrs. Huckle/band Momma Huckle

Blessed to have met Ray. Cynthia introduced the boys and Deanna before our move to Lockhart. Ray along with Levi, Tim and a few others took her under their wings and showed her the ropes. He was always there encouraging her to be a better person. Pumping her up each power lift meet. To Ray although she was only 105 pounds there was no limit to what she could do. He pumped her and bam she pushed herself to lift more. Each time I saw Ray he would stop what he was doing to come say hi and give me a hug. We would talk about our families and what was going on with us. He was a remarkable young man! His smile brightened my day. Ray touched the lives of many. He will be dearly missed. It’s not everyday you’ll get a chance to meet someone like Ray. Those are few and far between. Lifting Cynthia and family in prayer. Love you guys!!

I didn’t personally know Ray, but I do know that he was an absolutely wonderful guy and had a beautiful soul. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. <3
