            Robert Wayne Ludwig, age 78, passed away peacefully and went home to be with  the Lord on October 5, 2024.  He was born in Austin, Texas on January 19, 1946 to Raymond Ludwig, Sr. and Mary Alice Kunze Ludwig.

He graduated in 1963 from Stephen F. Austin High School.  He proudly served his country in  the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a SP5 Specialist Radio Operator and received the Markmenship Award.

            He worked as a journeyman carpenter for most of his life and  was a member of Carpenter’s Union 1266.  Later in life he worked at various jobs .   He truly enjoyed working at the Mary Lee Foundation.

            Robert dedicated his life, as a single father, to raising his two children.  He loved helping others, family time (especially getting ice cream with his beloved granddaughters), nature, growing flowers and plants, as well as his coffee and BBQ.  He will be remembered as  a kind and thoughtful soul, beloved father and the best Papa ,He will be missed and never forgotten

            He was preceded in death by his parents:  Raymond Ludwig, Sr. and Mary Alice Kunze Ludwig;  Brother:  Henry E. Ludwig, Sr.; and Brother-in-Law:  Ronald  Flentge.

            He is survived by his Daughter, Jennifer Laird and husband, Adam and two grandchildren:  Christine Rose and Emily Grace who brought him much joy and happiness; Son, Jarrett Ludwig and wife Ginny; Brother,  Raymond Ludwig, Jr and wife, Michelle; Sister, Betty Ludwig Flentge; Sister-in-Law, Joan Ludwig; Mike Ludwig Wacker and many extended family and friends. 

            The family would like to express their appreciation to all the caring nurses at Seton Hospital (Main) and the loving staff at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House.

            Memorial contributions may be made to: Martindale Baptist Church, Martindale, TX.

            The service for the Celebration of Robert’s Life will be:   Sunday, 0ctober 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Martindale Baptist Church, 12351 TX-142, Martindale, TX  78655 with Pastor Gary Bob Clements officiating.
