A variety of events over the course of the weekend will be geared toward helping flood recovery in Caldwell County.
In the wake of the devastating Memorial Day and Halloween Weekend floods of 2015, the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce CTR Rodeo Committee has decided to donate the proceeds from several weekend events to
flood recovery efforts within Caldwell County.
The Rodeo kicks off on Thursday night, with Team Roping beginning at 7 p.m. While admission to the Team Roping event is free, the proceeds from the entry fees will be earmarked for flood victims within the county.
Local children, too, will have the chance to participate in rodeo and recovery events. Until Saturday evening immediately prior to the Rodeo, the Committee will be selling custom-made, one-of-a-kind stick horses, for $15. Every stick-horse owner is invited to participate in Saturday night’s opening ceremonies, and will be welcomed into the Rodeo Arena during the Opening Parade and National Anthem on Saturday evening as the rodeo kicks off.
All proceeds from the stick-horse parade will also be earmarked for flood recovery.
Also new to Chisholm Trail Roundup this year is the first annual CTR Car Show, which will be held at Lockhart City Park on Saturday morning, June 11.
In an effort to draw a new crowd to Lockhart City Park for Chisholm Trail Roundup, the Car Show will open registration at 9 a.m. Lineup will be complete by 1 p.m., and vehicles will be on display in the General Admission Parking Area of Lockhart City Park until at least 4 p.m.
