April 11, 1960 – August 6, 2024

Ronald (Ronny) Schulze, of Lockhart, passed away in his sleep on August 6, 2024 at the age of 64, after a long battle, well-fought, with numerous health issues. He had given up so many of his favorite things in the past few years in order to live, but with not much quality of life. Now he is at peace at his forever home doing what he loved including fishing, hunting, dipping snuff, drinking some natty lights, and eating whatever he wants. Probably again having those “Friday Night Board Meetings” with family and friends that have passed before him, including his dad, Pete Schulze. He may also be on a tractor, in the air conditioning with country music on the radio, farming and ranching, or riding on the buggy, feeding the deer, or clearing the land of weeds and mesquites so the cows could have more grass to eat. He took great care and was very proud of his cattle ranch and his family.

Ronny was born and raised in Lockhart and graduated from Lockhart High School in 1978. He worked as an auto mechanic at his dad’s shop, Alex and Schulze Garage, for more than 20 years. He then went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation, moving up in the ranks in Austin, Seguin, and then finally home to the Lockhart District where he retired as Maintenance Supervisor in 2018.

Ronny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Melinda, and their son, Jason; daughter-in-law, Kandy; and six wonderful grandchildren, Sutton, Emma, Andy, Lawson, Sawyer, and Brownlee; all of Lockhart. Survivors also include his mother, Jo Nell Schulze of Lockhart; brother Terry Schulze and wife Deborah of Wimberley; sister Darla Law and husband, Daniel of Lockhart, and sister-in-law Melissa Wishon; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers.

The family wishes to thank everyone that took part in making Ronny’s life the great and blessed life that it was. Special thanks go to his “Blue Angels” on 10 Blue and other doctors and nurses at the University of Texas Southwest (UTSW), William B. Clements Hospital, in Dallas, that took such good care of Ronny during the past two years; as well as his lung transplant team of doctors, and transplant coordinator, Cheryl Nava for giving him more time on earth to spend with his family and friends.

He will be forever loved and missed!

Services will not be held publicly. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 522, Lockhart, Texas 78644.
