In Loving Memory of Rosa Ortiz

Rosa Ortiz, 82, cherished Daughter, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, peacefully entered her eternal resting place on January 29, 2024. Born on August 26, 1941, in Lockhart, Texas, to Pablo and Francisca Mendez, Rosa leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Ortiz, her parents, sister, Dolores Maldonado, and brothers, Alvino, Eron, Sr., Leo, and Pablo Mendez.

She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Ortiz and Ramona Ortiz; brother Delfino Mendez; brother Robert Mendez and wife Dora; sister Manuela Serna; sister Francis Von Theumer and husband Alfred; brother Carlos Mendez and wife Alice; grandsons John Tilton and Jimmy Hill; granddaughter Kellsey Tilton; great-grandson Gunner Hill; and partner Benino Botello.

Rosa found joy in the simple moments of life. A dedicated crossing guard, she delighted in ensuring the safety of children on their way to school. Spending time with her family brought her immense fulfillment. Her love for shopping was evident, especially when shared with her children and grandchildren. Rosa had a genuine passion for connecting with people, and she treasured the moments spent with her family.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at DeLeon Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Abundant Church Central Texas at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial in Lockhart City Cemetery.

The Ortiz family will receive friends at Presbyterian Life Center (119 N Commerce St, Lockhart, Texas) after her services. 

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Richard Mendez, Sean Mendez, John Tilton, Jimmy Hill, Silvester Serna, and Michael Barber.

As we bid farewell to Rosa Ortiz, let us remember the warmth she shared and the love that will continue to resonate in our hearts. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
