Rosaria Castilleja Barboza
Rosaria Castilleja Barboza, 97, beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on October 7, 2024. Born on October 7, 1927, in Maxwell, Texas, Rosaria was the cherished daughter of Jose and Elena Castilleja.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnulfo Barboza, son, Roberto Barboza, siblings, Juan Castilleja, Francisco Castilleja, Guadalupe Castilleja, Felipe Castilleja, Gregoria Torres, Otilia Zamarripa, Dolores Sanchez, and grandchildren, Brenda Barboza and Michael Mendoza.
Rosaria’s life was a testament to love, strength, and dedication. She was a woman who thrived in her independence and took immense pride in her family. She loved sewing, quilting, and sharing home-cooked meals with those she held dear. Her legacy of devotion lives on in those she leaves behind: her son, Rafel Barboza; daughter, Ana Maria Mendoza; as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Jose Castilleja and Vicente Castilleja, and a sister, Angelita Rodriguez.
While her presence will be dearly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her parents, siblings, husband, son, and grandchildren.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held in her memory at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at DeLeon Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale, Texas, with interment to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.
