Rosaura “Rosa” Flores Rangel
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Rosa Rangel was called to eternal peace by our Heavenly Father on June 20, 2023.
Rosa was born on August 11, 1926 to Juan and Julia Flores in the community of Seawillow in Caldwell County. On May 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Martin R. Rangel, her husband of 73 years, who gave her the name “Chawa”.
Rosa was a stay at home mom. Together with Martin they raised three children. She went on to care for all the grandchildren until it was time for them to go to either daycare or school. She also cared for some of the great-grandchildren, as well as numerous children from the neighborhood and community. She went on to be named “Mama Chawa”.
Rosa loved to collect cardinals, pick pecans and gardening.
Rosa is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Julia Flores, her husband Martin R. Rangel, her sister Bertha, her brothers Juventino, Frank and Joe. She is survived by her sister Lupita. Her children: Felicitas Cano, Bernie (Dolores) Rangel and Irma Rangel. Her grandchildren: Yvonne (Kenny) Henderson, Lori (Mike) Rangel, Becky Reyes, Eric (Amy) Rangel, Richard Reyes Jr, and Melanie (Gilbert) Ruiz. Her Great-Grandchildren: Jessica (Thomas), Ashley, Ty (Alysa), Zoe, Makayla, Madilyn, Santiago, Elliot, Abraham and Austen. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Aaliyah, Amira, Amelia and Evalyn and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to sincerely thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. They would also like to thank Chisholm Trail Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Compassus Hospice Care.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
We are so sorry for y’all’s loss. RIP Mama Chawa.
