Two named to All-Centex team
Lockhart seniors Alex Contreras and Will Uker were recently named to All-Centex Football team. Both players a defense that yielded 262.1 yards per game during the Lions” 3-7 campaign.
Contreras was the only player to receive All-District 25-4A honors on defense (first-team defensive back) and offense (wide receiver). The 6-3, 190-pounder led the league in interceptions
(six), and was second on the team in tackles with 48 solos and 44 assists. He caused three fumbles, recovering two. On offense he had 256 total yards and was the team”s second-leading scorer (24 points).
Uker, a 6-1, 232-pound lineman, led Lions tacklers with 45 solo stops and 57 assists (including seven for losses). He finished with seven sacks, 20 hurries and caused three fumbles.
Contreras, who received honorable mention on the Associated Press” Class 4A all-state team last month, recently was nominated for Old Spice”s Red Zone Player of the Year. The award recognizes those players who excel beyond the call of duty, particularly inside the 20-yard line. The top 50 players nationwide will be honored next month.
