Vern “Clyde” Lawrence
Vern “Clyde” Lawrence, 81, of Niederwald, Texas passed away May 3, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Jackie Shaver.
He is survived by his partner of 11 years, Bonnie Abel; sons Larry and wife Toni Lawrence of Houston and Bill and wife Barbara Ebner of Buda; daughter Penny and husband Mike Michael of Lago Vista; grandchildren Sam and wife Pattie Lawr
ence of Austin, Carie and husband Doug Osborn of San Marcos, Leeanna Shaver of Trinity, Lynn Gordon of Houston, Keri and Katey Ebner, and Chris Michael; and great-grandchildren Faith Lawrence, Haley and Katherine Shaver, Deavyn Gordon and Ryan Michael.
Vern joined the Air Force on Nov. 25, 1942 and retired as a Technical Sergeant on Jan. 31, 1968.
He served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded an Achievement Medal with combat V, and was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Texas State Sheriff”s Association.
Vern will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery.
LeeOna Jo Schaefer
LeeOna Jo Schaefer of San Marcos passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the age of 91.
She was born in Gillett, Texas on Sept. 17, 1914 to William (Willie) and Mary (Halm) Henze.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Emma; brother Oscar; and stepson Clifton N. Schaefer.
She is survived by her husband, H. Russell (Scotty) Scott of San Marcos; friends, Sara Frank of Kyle and David Domsch of Poteet; stepsons Jimmy William Schaefer and wife, Sharon of Monroe, N.C., and Harry Scott and wife, Anne; stepdaughter, Kathy McNiell and husband, Larry; brother, Franklin C. Henze of Mathis, Texas; step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Jo was a member of the St. John”s United Church of Christ, Uhland, the Home Extension Club and a volunteer at CTMC Hospital. She loved life and her many friends, and the adventures they provided.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2006, at St. John”s United Church of Christ in Uhland, with Pastor Carlson Jakobik officiating. Interment followed at the Live Oak Cemetery in Uhland.
