Virginia Katherine Williams
Virginia Katherine (Kathy) Williams 61 of Sarasota Florida died Oct. 14, 2006 after a 19-month fight with Ovarian Cancer. Kathy Chad was born May 24, 1945, in St. Louis and moved to Sarasota in 1969 from Wichita, Kan. She received a bachelor”s degree in 1968 from the University of South Florida and a master”s degree in education in 2001. She was an elementary school teacher
for 23 years. The last school she taught at was Emma E. Booker Elementary School for 18 years. She was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church and Daughters of the King Sarasota.
Kathy married Gerald (Jerry) Williams on Oct. 22, 1993 at St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Sarasota. Kathy and Jerry were known for their picture Christmas cards each year many included some of their animals. They owned a small farm where they took in homeless animals.
Survivors include her husband Jerry Williams of Sarasota; two daughters, Stephanie K. Gillespie of Falls Church, Va. and Rebecca E O”Brien of Orlando, Fla.; one son, James D. Barnett of Weston, Fla., and one stepson, Jerry Williams Jr. of Florida; sister, Martha E. Avery of Fort Morgan, Colo.; brothers David W. Chad and Frederick H. Chad of Lafayette, Colo.; and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law Myron (Bev) Williams and Ernest (Bernie) Williams both of Marshfield, Wis.; sisters-in-law Esther Hornick and Isabel Sterzinger Wausau, Wis., Louise (Glenn) Pilgrim of Brainard, Minn., Judy (Tom) Miller of Edgar, Wis. and Dawn (Francisco Donjuan) Hernandez of Maxwell, Texas.
A memorial service was held on Oct. 21 in Sarasota at St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church.
