Wilma Helmke

Wilma Homann Helmke 91, of Lockhart passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013. Wilma was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Mendoza.

She married Edward Helmke on June 24, 1944, who preceded her in death in 1978. They made their home in the Mendoza community for many years. She was employed by Brooks-Tex for many years and Wuest’s Grocery Store until retirement.

Wilma was preceded in death

by her husband, Edward; parents, Meta and Willie Homann; brothers, Eric and Louis Homann; sister, Alma Rust; and niece, Lisa White.

She is survived by Thelma Neumann and Ella Townes, of Lockhart; Ruby White and husband, Marlon, of Bastrop; Alice Herzog and husband, RB, of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Funeral services were scheduled at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, with Pastor Bryan Dylacik-Willingham and Pastor Carlson officiating, with interment to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
